Nerve Bundle

Number of players:
4-20

Objective:
Develop the ability to describe and interpret neurologic concepts concisely using verbal and nonverbal communication.

Materials needed:
Paper and pen
A hat, bowl, or empty skull
Setup:
-
Each player writes down several neurology-related terms on slips of paper. Aim for a total of 15-20 terms. Examples:
-
A neuroanatomic structure (e.g., basal ganglia)
-
A neurologic condition or disease (e.g., myasthenia gravis)
-
A neurologic exam maneuver or sign (e.g., Babinski sign)
-
A medical tool (e.g., tuning fork)
-
-
Fold the slips and place them in a hat, bowl, or empty skull.
Gameplay:
-
Players take turns drawing a slip and trying to get their team to guess the term.
-
Each round uses the same set of terms, but with progressively harder restrictions:
-
Round 1 (Catch Phrase): Describe the term without using any part of it.
-
Round 2 (One Word): Say only one word to describe the term.
-
Round 3 (Charades): Act it out without speaking.
-
-
If the team guesses correctly, the slip is set aside in their team’s pile.
-
If they cannot guess, the slip is returned to the hat, bowl, or skull for another attempt.
-
Play continues until the hat, bowl, or skull is empty.
-
At the end of each round, count how many slips each team has—this is their score for that round.
-
Return all slips to the hat, bowl, or empty skull and start the next round using the same terms.
-
The team with the highest total score at the end of the third round wins.
